Loch Ness is a long, narrow lake in Scotland. It is 38 kilometres long and one and a half wide. In 1933 the story of Loch Ness monster became news. Mr. Hugh Gray was walking by the Loch when he saw a creature swimming. It had a head, a body and a tail. Mr. Gray had his camera and took a photograph. It was the first photo of what became the Loch Ness monster. There are many pictures and many stories of the monster and there have been many scientific expedition too. Looking at all the photos and listening to all the stories, what does the monster look like?
Loch Ness è un lungo e stretto fiume in Scozia. È lungo 38 chilometri e largo uno e mezzo.
Nel 1933 la storia del mostro di Loch Ness fece notizia. Il signor Hugh Gray stava camminando lungo il Loch Ness quando vide una creatura nuotare. Essa aveva una testa, un corpo e una coda. Il signor Gray prese la sua macchina fotografica e scattò una foto. Fu la prima foto di ciò che sarebbe diventato il mostro di Loch Ness. Ci sono molte immagini e molte storie sul mostro e sono state fatte anche molte spedizioni scientifiche. Guardando tutte le foto e ascoltando tutte le storie, a cosa somiglia il mostro?
HEAD: It’s small, about 30 centimetres with two horns. It has large eyes and a large mouth.

NECK: This is about two metres long and one metre thick.

BODY: This is big and is about 20 metres long and has “flippers”. The colour is black or dark brown.

TAIL: This is 5 metres long, but many people say that the monster has no tail.

HABITS: The monster usually moves at night and swims at 35 to 50 kilometres per hour!

One idea is that the monster is a prehistoric reptile which lived in the sea 70 million years ago. Other people say that it might be a large eel, a whale or a big seal. But nobody is sure what the monster really is. Some people have given it the name “Nessie”! And there are some people who don’t believe there is a monster. Perhaps one day somebody will find the answer.
Alcuni sostengono che il mostro sia un rettile preistorico che visse nel mare 70 milioni di anni fa. Altri dicono che potrebbe essere un’enorme anguilla, una balena oppure una grande foca. Ma nessuno è certo di come il mostro sia nella realtà. Alcune persone lo chiamano Nessie! E ci sono alcune persone che non credono che esista. Forse un giorno qualcuno troverà la risposta.
